I looked after my Mother for three years, before she died at home with me and my sister by her side. I wish I had been told what death looked like, but was told often that it was near. She had those crazy moments which were hilariously funny and sad. It was an honour (and a very hard, depressing, sad, exhausting time) looking after her and being with her when she died. Since that experience I have become a listener for unpaid carers and I work helping people write their advanced care plans and also helping with death cafe’s and other events. It is fascinating and wonderful.
