An ‘aunt’ of mine had been admitted to hospital after relapsing at home. Her only child lived many miles away so I contacted him and sad I’d meet him at the hospital. When ensuring as to her state I was told by the nurse that she had ‘stopped breathing’. I asked if they had resuscitated her and was told not. I asked, “what do you mean stopped breathing?” The answer given was, “just that,” so I said, “you mean she is dead.” The answer was yes. I was furious that the nurse did not just say so! Her son did not take it in time.
