My grandad was very controlling of everything but especially his long suffering wife. At her wake, my mother was able to talk to my grandmother, her mother-in-law for the first time in a long while without my grandfather’s presence. He didn’t feel the need to monitor after she was dead. Very sad. Also his funeral was awkward and I was glad he was laid out as I could check he was dead!
